My favorite colleague back at Indiana University is R.B. Fisher. He is to R.A. Fisher what P.D.Q. Bach is to J.S. Bach: an improvement. R.B.'s most significant discovery is the invention of the T-square shirt, seen in this photograph. R.B. doesn't sell the shirts directly, but I happen to have some in stock. If you would like to own one, please send me e-mail (Bernhard.Flury@seco.unine.ch). The cost is about US $ 15 plus shipping. |

| Massimo Pigone is my favorite italian colleague. He is one of the leading italian statisticians of the next century, but he is perhaps better known as a linguist. Massimo believes that the reason for the corruption in Italy is the corrupt language; therefore he has made it his goal to clean the italian language of all corruption. His forthcoming book entitled "Italian for Tourists and Italians: dall' Italiano Corrotto all' Italiano Corretto" serves this goal; a sample chapter will appear on a website soon. During long walks on Italy's Via Appia (the "happy road") I have had many memorable conversations with Massimo about his attempts to purify the italian language of all corrupt influences. |
